Diana Stith Brennan was born and
raised in Rhode Island, at the edge of a mill town. She grew to
love the architecture of the old mills and was fascinated by the
character that age gave to them. Diana was also drawn to nature,
whether searching for frogs in the neighborhood pond or volunteering
with her parents at the Audubon Society.
While always fascinated by her father's old Minolta SLR, Diana
didn't get a chance to delve into photography in earnest until high
school, when she took her first black and white photography class.
She was immediately hooked. She discovered the power that photography
had to communicate her unique view of the world to others.
Diana graduated with a degree in Environmental
Science and Management from the University of Rhode Island in 2002.
When not focusing on her photography, she works in the environmental
field, where she continues to learn about and be inspired by both
the natural and the man-made in Rhode Island and beyond.
Diana shoots with a Nikon D70 Digital SLR and
is drawn to creating semi-abstract images of the world around her.
Most of her photographs are taken in Southern New England. Diana's
philosophy is that the true essence of a scene can often be captured
best by photographing the details.
